bar wear

Happy Friday!

I was hoping to get a post up this week with another Day in the Life (a school day this time), but I ran out of time. So – that will have to be posted next week!

Today I wanted to share another Feel Good Fashion post – this time with “going out wear”. Most of the outfits that I post are outfits I wore to school, to a business meeting/presentation or while studying. I don’t think I’ve shown y’all what I wear when I go out for date nights or out with friends yet.

Enter this week’s outfit. I wore this last week for a date night with Matt. We went out to dinner and to a local bar afterward to have a few drinks and hang out.

And I’ll go ahead and apologize – the quality of these pictures isn’t the best. It was late, late when I took these and had to rely on artificial light!

I really love wearing my skinny jeans with wedges on the weekends. I can’t/won’t wear any sort of heel when I’m at school because I don’t want to walk all over campus in them. But wearing them on the weekends is so nice! Also, when we’re going somewhere nice enough – I love to wear a blazer or a more formal jacket/top.

I LOVE this jacket. I found it at TJ Maxx and got it in a 14, which felt perfect in the store. It’s definitely a bit tight when I go out and am moving my arms all around, but its also gotten much looser in the 2 months I’ve owned it and it’s much more comfortable to wear now.

And the shoes – well, I love wedges. I used to wear 4” inch heels EVERY DAY when I first graduated college. I quit wearing them several years ago (when I started running), but I kept my heels because they were just too pretty. The problem with keeping them and never wanting to wear them is everything else wants me to wear them.

After some pressure from friends on New Year’s this year, I decided to donate them all a few weeks ago. It’s been so freeing to no longer have them in my closet and replacing that space on my shoe rack with my wedges. Plus my little wedge collection is growing and I love it!

Wedges are definitely comfortable enough for me to wear when I’ll be working in a hospital and I am super excited I found these particular ones because I love the color! I also found them in a shiny cream, and they are beautiful.

Here’s where the outfit is from:

  • Cami: Nordstrom Rack $10
  • Pink shirt: Nordstrom Rack $9.50
  • Blazer: TJ Maxx $25
  • 1969 Lightweight Legging Jeans: Gap $49
  • Wedges: Calvin Klein from TJ Maxx $40
  • Earrings: Old

Can you believe these skinny jeans wouldn’t button two months ago? And now I’m out wearing them every day, like it’s no big deal. Thank you body for changing despite me not seeing it on the scale!

What do y’all wear when you go out?

My gf wears jeans and a button down, but I like to go a little fancier and tighter. I usually wear jeans as well, but try and pair it with a fun shirt.

i love all of your fashion posts! they definitely inspire me to try to pull myself together.

i feel fancy when i wear something other than a sweatshirt with my jeans or shoes that aren’t my chuck taylors….

p.s. i got my fitbit yesterday!! :) where do you wear yours? do you hook it on your bra? it’s kinda bugging me there. but maybe i’ll get used to it?

Um, Chuck Taylors are totally appropriate for all occasions. :) I intend to wear them with my wedding dress.

Yes, if I’m wearing an actual bra, I hook it on the very inside portion of one side of my cup – like right next to where the cups come together. It doesn’t bother me at ALL, but I am well endowed in that area, so I’m sure that probably contributes to the fact that I don’t notice it. I have had limited success with wearing it on my belt – I feel like it falls off too easily.

If I’m wearing a sports bra and workout pants, I hook it on my underwear.

I love that blazer so much!!! I love blazers in general, but my shoulders are already so broad I feel like blazers/ jackets make me look like a line backer!

As for what I wear to go out, it really depends on where we’re going, who I’m going with and what we’re doing.

I feel the same way about jackets! And I don’t even have broad shoulders compared to my hips.

I think if you offset the broadness of your shoulders by belting the waist or wearing something slimmer on bottom like skinny jeans, it will make you look smaller overall.

I’m so proud of you for tossing out your 4″ heels! A couple years ago I decided that I would never wear uncomfortable shoes ever again, and though it takes more work, I do manage to find shoes that are cute and comfy.

I actually just bought my first pair of skinny jeans EVER last week (a little bit late, right?). Love your blazer and red wedges :-)
