Happy Friday!!!!

Ahhh, so happy that it’s Friday and almost the weekend. Anyone have fun plans for the weekend?

I’m here with my Feel Good Fashion outfit of the week. Photos taken in the secret mirror, of course :)

This week it’s all about the jacket/blazer.

Like vests, I always felt like a fool wearing a jacket. I’ve been trying to buy them more these last few months, in preparation for my internship. I’ve been told my other health care professionals that people perceive you as having more authority/knowledge when in a medical environment, when you are wearing a jacket.

So, I’ve been trying to wear them more – and I actually wore one with a dress this past weekend for a date with Matt!

Anyway, back to the blue jacket I wore to work this week. I actually bought this jacket MONTHS ago, loved it at the time, and since it’s sat in my closet and I’ve had no idea what to do with it. I randomly saw it one day this week and decided to wear it.

The result?

LOVE.

I felt like a million bucks wearing this all day and I can’t believe I didn’t also buy this jacket in black when I had the chance.

I think I have shown y’all these shoes before

I will also say, I really like these pants. I’ve been wearing the Worthington business pants for years (since I first graduated college 5 years ago!). These are very baggy on me compared to my other gap black pants I normally wear, but I still love the way they looked with this outfit.

Also, I love black business pants and could wear them every day, happily.

Here’s where everything is from:

  • Black pants: Worthington by JC Penny ~$25
  • Jacket: Nordstrom Rack $32
  • White shirt: TJ Maxx $7
  • Shoes: Ellen Tracy (I think) leather with snakeskin print kitten heels $40 – from DSW
  • Necklace: Target $10

I really urge y’all to push yourselves out of your comfort zone when it comes to clothes. It really will give you a new sense of confidence, at any weight, when you make an attempt to present yourself well to others.

If nothing else, think of me looking like an idiot taking pictures in bathroom mirrors and how I post them on my blog for the world to see :) That should inspire you!

How do you feel about jackets/blazers? Love or feel like a tool?

I also LOVE that blue blazer.

I love blazers and jackets, but I always feel awkward wearing them. It’s not that I feel like a tool, but since I have such broad shoulders (thank you years of swimming butterfly) and narrow hips, I feel like a line-backer!

You ROCK the blazers/jackets. I, on the other hand, look like an awkward man. LOL. I always feel dude-y in them. Maybe when I lose more, I’ll feel less of that. Wish I could rock ‘em like you!!

I highly doubt this! Next time you are shopping, take a picture in one and send it to me and I’ll let you know how great you look :)

I freaking LOVE blazers and LOVE fall because you can actually wear them! I think they have to be cut right though ( like yours) because I have one that I got last year from Target that Doug calls my “Paula Poundstone” blazer because he says it reminds him of a bad 90s outfit because it’s longer and the shoulders are super boxy. When I wear it, it makes me laugh, but he’s right – I need shorter ones!

I agree! I don’t like the ones that are long and fluffy. I like the more thin cut ones (that you see me wearing most often), because they look more feminine!

The blazers look cute on you. But I never looked right in a blazer. As a teacher I preferred cardigans and shells with pants or skirts. And for my job now I wear a blazer/jacket for my formal uniform but it’s not a cute blazer.

I do love the Worthington brand pants. They are the only ones that fit me properly. I have quite a collection of them.

Love the blue on you! I haven’t attempted to wear a blazer in a long time but now I want to try one! :)

I think you are absolutely right about presenting yourself to others with confidence. Pushing yourself by choosing a few new pieces makes you feel “special.” I like the striped blazer….
enjoy have fun being the odd duck…

LOVE the color of your blazer- awesome blue!!! I would loveee to find a blazer that doesn’t make me look like a linebacker :P I am 5’10″ with a pretty slim frame but any blazer that I’ve tried on gives me the shoulders of a football player!

Well I’m 5’9″ but I’ve got hips, so I think that helps me look balanced. I would look for a more cropped/fitted blazer like the one in this post as opposed to a regular business like blazer. I’ve noticed those are more slimming and flattering, at least for me!
