I kind of feel like I’ve been floating lately.
There have been so many good things going on in my life, but in my moments of downtime I just find myself sitting down and thinking about how many things there are still left to do. I don’t want to say I feel bogged down – because I’m getting all the important things done. It’s just that nagging feeling that there is always something left that I haven’t done.
For a while my broken blog was on that list. I have been having some issues for a few months with publishing, but a few weeks ago I started having some really weird error messages pop up. I did some research and thought for sure my blog was completely broken and I was going to need to re-install wordpress. This seemed like a lot of work, so in true fashion, I ignored it for several weeks.
Finally during our ice-mageddon that we had last weekend in DFW, I sat down and contacted someone to completely fix my blog. And it turns out, it was just a matter of using more data than my server package offers me. I’m SO thankful for Neil and Jes from Kohler Created for figuring out what was wrong and getting everything back up and running! I spent some time over the weekend getting all the publishing fixed (I hope) – so please let me know if still see something wonky.
So, let’s make a list of the positive things going on in life rather than focus on the naggy to-do list things that seem to never be getting done (oh like how we don’t have house cleaners anymore).
1. Since my little hissy fit post about not losing weight, I decided to step up my game and actually try. I started tracking everything in a google doc with a few other RD-to be blogger friends and it’s been the complete game changer.
I’m happy to report that since I wrote that post, I have tracked everything, every single day. I have lost about 10-11 pounds since I wrote that post and am now at my all-time low. I even surpassed where I was in the internship by almost 5 pounds.
I’m probably the most committed and on track I’ve been since I started trying to lose weight 5 years ago and it’s all thanks to my patients and a few key friends for constantly motivating me.
2. On that same note, I did finish 10K training and since I’ve run two additional 10Ks, bringing me to 4 total. I have 3 more 10Ks planned in the new few months and am very happy that I can now maintain this level of exercise without having to run frequently. Instead I’m doing a lot of cross training, lifting and spin.
3. I found a second job. People think I am crazy, but I’m only working about 6 hours extra week as a clinical dietitian in a long-term acute care facility. I’m happy that I’m not only getting additional experience, but I’m working to pay down some of the debt I acquired over the last 3 years when I was going back to school to become a RD.
4. Nicole and I started a book club on Goodreads. We had spent so much time talking about how we couldn’t find a good book club, that we decided to just start one when we were hanging out a few months ago. We read romance, obviously, more new adult focused I would say. I would love to have any of y’all join us if you want. We are reading a book once a month.
